Meet Melanie

I believe we aren’t defined by our stories, but by how we transform them.

I’ve always been drawn to creating—though for a long time, I didn’t fully understand why.

I grew up surrounded by art in my grandmother’s studio and later found my way into professional photography and interior design. The thread was always there, but it wasn’t until my early thirties that something truly shifted.

Becoming a mother and being diagnosed with a brain tumour soon after, brought me into a season that changed me completely. It asked me to hold both beginning and uncertainty at once - to move through life in a slower, more conscious way.

That time reshaped how I see everything. It taught me that transformation isn’t always loud or visible. Often, it’s quiet. It’s returning to yourself, again and again. It’s showing up, making a mark and allowing something to unfold over time.

Now, my practice is rooted in that understanding. I work with watercolour, graphite and sometimes clay—drawn to the balance between fluidity and grounding. Each piece is an exploration of what can’t always be put into words, but can be felt.

My work holds space for what is still unfolding — for the in-between seasons, the quiet shifts, the parts of you that are finding their way.

If you’re here, you might be in one of those seasons too.

You can follow my process and reflections in my Journal.

"Creativity has always been my constant. It is how I navigate the moments that don’t yet have words."

"To live as an artist is a way of being in the world. A way of perceiving. A practice of paying attention".

PERSONAL SIDE

I’m an introvert at heart - happy with books, trees and salt air; but equally love being surrounded by my favourite peeps.

My days move mostly between the studio and raising teenagers, which brings its own kind of rhythm and chaos. Somewhere in the middle of it all, I try to find the quiet moments—the ones that steady me. Early morning meditations, walking our dogs or simply pausing long enough to work out what I need.

My family (and creative family) keep me grounded. My tribe show up with coffee, make me laugh and hold space, I’m surrounded by some epic humans. I’m also a bit of a food nerd, love exploring personal growth and holistic wellness and like many, I seek the elusive ‘balance’ of this crazy human experience.

The ocean helps. Music is essential. Most days, you’ll find me in the studio with headphones on, letting it carry me into flow.

It’s not perfect, but it’s real—and I’ve learned to trust that.
